In its heyday, the space shuttle would generate nearly 8 million pounds of thrust just to lift itself off the launch pad into the atmosphere.  Once beyond the earth’s gravitational pull, it didn’t require as much effort to stay in space and could effortlessly cruise at 17,500 mph with a fraction of that power.   The same can be said for your Chiropractic care plan.
     The start of any healthy endeavor requires more effort – in Chiropractic that means more visits in the beginning to break free from the gravity of dis-ease and build forward momentum.  Once free from the ‘pull’ of poor habits and chronic illness, it requires less effort to keep you aloft. 
     It takes more effort to get off the initial care launch pad than it does to stay in a healthy orbit.  If you want to get results, expect to put more work in at the beginning of your care.   Your chiropractic team is ready to help you along the way… just stick with the mission plan and you’ll reach your destination.

"Cutting Off the Effect..."

If predisposed to chronic life debilitating migraines, no rational person would agree to a beheading to pre-empt the next one.  But fear misplaced faith and little knowledge of how the body innately works could influence such a move on 'lesser' body parts...like a gallbladder, some adenoids or a pair of tonsils.
Healthy function is FIRST patterned in the Nerve System - then executed in the body.  You can't successfully wiggle your toes, secrete a hormone or heal a paper cut without an 'innate' command first emitting from your Nerve System, and expressing itself in those parts.  Likewise, for disease to manifest in the body, it too must be first patterned in your Nerve System.  Treating or 'pre-treating' diseased tissue only addresses an effect after the fact.  A CAUSE precedes both events, and should be addressed primarily if health is to be truly preserved.
It doesn't matter what or how many body parts you remover to avoid 'potential' illness...DIS-EASE will manifest itself someway, somehow if the cause (interference with the normal expression of Life via the Nerve System) is not addressed.  It is far wiser to keep your head and get adjusted!

       What makes us Fat?  We have been lead to believe that fat in food makes us fat and that simply is not true.  The only thing that can cause us to store fat is when insulin is high and our blood sugar is spiked.  The truth is the Atkins, Paleo, South Beach or any carbohydrate restrictive diets are and have always been right.  When we eat meals  with and snack on carbohydrates (bread, pasta, sugar, potatoes, corn, baked goods, some beans, rice, flour, high sugar fruits, wheat  and crackers) we are fat storing rather than fat burning.  My recommendation for eating while releasing weight is eating protein and fat (eggs, meat, fish, cheese, and nuts) and vegetables (lettuce, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, squash, zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, celery) and that’s it.  When you cheat you throw yourself back into the sugar addiction cycle.  If you can stick to carbohydrate restriction for 2-3 weeks you can actually stop the cravings.  The minute you think, “Oh I can have just this one cookie,” you have now started a cycle that is almost impossible to stop (SO DON’T CHEAT, it’s really not worth it).  Once you have broken the cycle of sugar addiction for a few weeks some people can start adding a few low carbohydrate alternatives in like berries (strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries) and some alternative baking flours like coconut flour and almond flour.  I under no circumstances recommend using artificial sweeteners like splenda.  Alternatively, stevia is great for making lemonade, sweet tea and cooking.  Occasionally I use sugar alcohols (erythritol and malitol) to bake with coconut flour to make a healthy low carb muffin or “breadsticks.”   Again I do not recommend using alternative flours or natural sweeteners until you have curbed your sugar addiction cycle because they can stimulate your brain to crave more sugar although not cause a blood sugar spike. 
Sugar Addiction: The Perpetual Cycle
        Lastly, and most importantly, please eat enough. There is no reason to starve yourself.   So what if you can’t have steak and potatoes, but you can have steak, a salad, and steamed veggies with butter (yes REAL butter is ok on this way of eating).   Eggs are a staple of my diet and not just for breakfast.  I made crustless quiches a few times a week.  Try to focus on all the wonderful stuff you can have.  Do you love chicken wings?  Well guess what… if you don’t have sugary sauce on them they are perfectly within this way of eating.  Stay away from anything that will spike your blood sugar and you’ll be seeing that weight melt away.  When you are ready add in exercise if you haven’t already.  Drink lots of water and make some lemonade with lemon juice, stevia to taste, and water if you get bored.  There are tons of recipes out there online… you can do this.   When you get to your goal weight, you can occasionally cheat but don’t make it a habit.  This is a lifestyle change and a way of eating that is healthy for a LIFETIME! 

The Toxin Lurking in Our Tap Water Vital Force Clinic St Louis

My family has been avoiding fluoride ever since I found this information out years ago.  Water fluoridation seems to be a sacred cow in the US and we need to start to question if it really is good for us.  Drinking/ingesting fluoride is not only ineffective but it is extremely toxic to our whole body health.  Fluoride is the only pharmaceutical that massively distributed to every man, woman, child and infant that uses municipal tap water in their home.  Chlorine makes the water safer by killing the bugs in it, and it is easily filtered out using a carbon filter.  Fluoride is not there to make the water safe, it is there to medicate a whole community of people.  The American Dental Association has even recommended making infant formula reconstituted with water that has low or no levels of fluoride.  My question to you is how is a person without a great deal of means going to afford to buy a reverse osmosis filter for their house and have it installed to avoid the fluoride for their baby?  The answer is, they can't and their baby will suffer the consequences of the one pharmaceutical fits all approach.  So I actually have a solution to this problem for once.  I believe the dentists in the community have the power to change this mass medication.  If we can get enough dentists to listen and open their hearts and mind, I believe we can petition the water board to stop the water fluoridation in St. Louis and everywhere else in this country.  I've read many books and articles on this topic but this video below is very well done and I believe this may be the key to opening the eyes of the dental community.  Also the  pictures below are picture of what dental fluorosis looks like.  I've got it, my kids don't.  But i grew up drinking water right out of the tap and I am doing my best to keep my kids with as low a dose as possible.  Dental fluorosis is a signal of TOXIC levels of exposure of fluoride, our teeth are just the window and show the evidence but our bones, organs, and nervous system has also been exposed.  Don't let me convince you, do your own research and protect your family.

Artificial Sweeteners like Splenda use deceptive advertising and holes in FDA policies to deceive the public. Did you know consuming artificial sweeteners can cause distortions in your biochemistry, and if you drink diet soda in an attempt to lose weight, they won't help you. Instead, most studies looking at this show very clearly that diet soft drinks actually double your obesity risk by stimulating your appetite, increasing carbohydrate cravings, and stimulating fat storage!

More Deception:
Splenda is not a zero calorie product. In every little yellow death pouch (yes I’m dramatic) there are actually 4 calories. Sucralose (Splenda) is about 600 times sweeter than sugar, so if it was sold by itself we would only need a few grains to sweeten our coffee. So they added a bulking/diluting agent made of a type of SUGAR! So each packet really contains 4 calories which may not seem like a big deal if you are using one packet, but I know of plenty of diabetics that are using 10 or more packets a day, and that can have a dramatic effect on blood sugar levels.

What is it doing to our insides?
The animal study, published in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, found that Splenda:
Reduced good intestinal bacteria by 50%, Increase pH levels and effected a glycoprtein that could have health effects especially people on certain medications. There are no long-term health studies to evaluate the health effects of chronic exposure to splenda (sucralose) which means your family could be the guinea pigs.

What other symptoms could be associated with the use of this drug?
The studies did show a strong association with migraine headaches in humans. In animals there were decreased red blood cells, increased male infertility, brain lesions (very high doses), Spontaneous abortions in nearly half the rabbit population given sucralose, compared to zero aborted ptregnancies in the control group, and a 23% death rate in rabbits vs a 6% death rate in the control group.

I’m convinced that splenda is a poison and is not as great as the corporations want you to believe. Do your own research and make your own decisions… its in a lot of things you may have once thought were healthy (breads, sugar chewing gum, children’s OTC medications, health drinks like 5 hour energy, supplements like Airborne and many more). If you want to avoid this for your family make sure to read the labels for Sucralose and/or Splenda. Other artificial sweeteners I also avoid are Aspertame (NutraSweet, Equal) and Saccharine (Sweet’N Low).

We live complex and busy lives. Many of us wonder how we can get just a few more hours out of the day. The problem is to do that we sacrifice the easiest way to stay optimally healthy. Sleep deprivation is a key factor in many health problems including obesity. There are several ways to help you sleep better but insomnia can be an issue with many people. Insomnia is defined as the inability to fall asleep or to remain asleep long enough to feel rested, especially when this is a problem that continues over time. Whether it is by choice or because of insomnia, sleep deprivation does cause processes in the body become less optimum.

Why would less sleep cause us to get fat? Sleep-deprived individuals tend to eat more sweet and starchy foods. Researchers suspect the cravings stem from the brain being fueled by glucose (blood sugar) so our brain is searching for carbs. There is also a hormone called leptin which tells your brain that there is no need for more food. Leptin is reduced when we have sleep deprivation. So it makes sense that less sleep could cause someone to gain weight.

Dear friend,

I bet you have wondered this yourself. “What do doctors do…” Do they just take a ‘magic’ drug that they never told us about? Let’s face it, as a society we are ‘hooked’ on drugs, both the illegal and the legal ones. But, most people don’t know that it’s actually the legal ones that kill many times more people than the illegal ones. A gut-wrenching statistic I just read was that 1 in 4 children are taking a prescription medicine on a regular basis.

Let me tell you a little story.

17 years ago, I was in middle school at Parkway West when I started having serious feelings of depression and anxiety, terrible headaches, and all over body pain. I was scared. Talking to school counselors helped, but there was still something very wrong. I was afraid to tell my parents how I felt. Much of the time I felt alone. I explored the unfortunate route of prescription drugs. One would make me feel loopy or the next would make me feel wiped out but they kept me alive. The pain and symptoms got worse in high school. I honestly thought that everyone lived with pain and so I just accepted the problems.

Then, 6 years ago a friend introduced me to a man that changed my life forever, an Upper Cervical Chiropractor. That didn’t mean much to me at first but I knew he was different. He didn’t pop, bend or crack my neck. He gently and painlessly moved a bone in my upper neck. That week, my headaches were less severe and then gone. Soon after, most of the body pain that had plagued me for years disappeared. Then, there was the biggest change that I never expected. A few months into care I started feeling happier, less anxious, and more positive. The veil of depression and anxiety that had ruled my life for 11 years was lifted. I felt like a new person. Because of the great results, I decided to become an upper cervical chiropractor so I could help others.

The ‘quick fix’ mentality of ‘just take a pill’ (not a true fix at all) is still common, but the good news is that things are changing. People are getting smarter.
